THERE’S NO GETTING OVER STONJOURNER VMAX’S WALL (FOR NOW)

Image
  – BY ELIJAH DOURESSEAU  Trainer EJ here , and I got another goodie rogue deck for ya : Stonjourner VMAX. This is another card that likely is sitting in your binder, if you haven't already sold it off for store credit, that is the key to revitalizing your local league night s . At 3 30 HP , this G igant ama x po c ket monster is of the bulky variety.

BLISSEY V, MILTANK, AND YOUR HOT GIRL SUMMER

Image
BY ELIJAH DOURESSEAU  You've seen the card. You might've pulled one or two in your Chilling Reign packs and thought, "Cool attack, but how can it be viable in the meta?"  Allow me to reintroduce to you, the healingest Pokemon bombshell this side of standard...BLISSEY V. Blissey V (Full Art) Quick aside: Blissey V is my kind of star for a deck. I'm the Trainer that loves to build on the spicy (unconventional) side of the meta. I learn the competitive staples of the tier 1 decks and, assuming it's the staples that can make a lot of decks work, I apply them to tier 2 and 3 decks that are arguably more of a joy to play. You get a little more match-up variety, and it is a delight to rise through the Swiss ranks with a mostly rogue deck.  Now Blissey V has been on plenty a content creator's radar for most of its existence. Early builds were usually tanking (healing) lists that had discarding elements and healing elements to sustain a heavy force the opposing pl...

It's been awhile

Due to Pokemon TCG prices going up and League Play being cancelled again, we are looking to navigate away from Pokemon Competitive to include additional TCGs (and possibly board games) As of right now, no new news.  But stay tuned.

Pre-Releases and upcoming OPC changes

Image
First of all, we like to thank TPCi for still letting us order pre-releases for non-sanctioned tournaments because it was popping last week! With 18 players out of our 20 slot, it was pretty much a full house with awesome deck building and seeing crazy strategies. After the tournament after everyone got their packs, we didn't see a lot of Gengars but we did see a lot of Mews being pulled. Can't wait to see what Fusion Strike will bring to the table once it goes legal next week in the rotation! Depending on how time consuming being a Pokemon Professor is during the revival of Pokemon OP, some of the ideas that we might run for OPC Season 3 (If we end up doing it again) is having an open leaderboard and anyone placing top cut will pay a tournament fee to enter the OPC Cup. This will keep the format casually competitive as a player is not forced to pay early in the season to keep their points rather than play whenever they can and if  they get points they get points. It's sti...

Odyssey First Win A Box!

Image
Odyssey Game's first Win a Box went off as expected with 16 players! Our store is normally not the store people will come to play Pokemon TCGs but we have enough of our regular players that we can always run events. We are waiting for Pokemon OP to start back up which they will in 2022 and we can start doing cool League things! Anyways a quick run down from the tournament on October 24. We have new players from the LA show up as well as our regular players. New faces = new decks and playstyles to play against which is great for the locals as they gear up to grind Championship Points for next worlds. First place would have been a box but it seemed that the Finalists: Fausto and Greg decided to split the box and go home a little early. Which is great, Pokemon is about having fun and making new friends. It's not stomping your enemies the whole time. Our next one is November 28 at Odyssey Games and we will have a special guest arriving! Fausto and Greg splitting first place
