DJKNITEX takes on a local! Turbo Darkrai wins it all? (ALMOST)
By Nikki Xaysanasy
Hey guys, it's me again! It's been awhile since I written anything ever since our good friend and teammate Elijah took over (which by the way, he write's awesome stuff!).
I decided to take on a weeknight local at DXN Provisions, one of the places that most of us tSn players like to play at but it was my first to play on their Pokemon Wednesdays (They previously used to be on Saturdays)
We had 9 people show up with 1 senior and 1 junior with the rest being Masters so there was a lot of good casual training going around.
Deck background: I played Darkrai way back around the time Yveltal-EX came out as they were the best combo to run and also Darkrai was awesome back then! I am a DARK type player and I'll forever rep Darkrai decks as they were one of the first decks I ever played with competitively when starting out the game almost a decade ago.
I am running a modified version of the current Turbo Darkrai Vstar deck from Tricky Gym (The list below is from Tricky Gym)

Darkrai Vstar is so good once you get it powered up on your turn 2. I actually did pretty well with me going undefeated in Masters but getting 2nd place overrall (Losing to a Junior for my only loss)
Game 1: Darkrai vs Kyogre/Groudon W (1-0)
My opponent wasn't able to get a 2nd pokemon on his 2nd turn resulting me in evolving into the Vstar for a OHKO for a quick and easy match
Game 2: Darkrai vs Darkrai (mirror match) W (2-0)
We had a similar start but I was able to power up more going first and able to quick ball/ultra ball into what I need for game. My opponent Researched twice and was only able to get and use 1 ultra ball the whole game.
Game 3: Darkrai vs Duraloudon/Arceus L (2-1)
I think I was favored to win this game but my opponent made a tiny mistake while able to recover the same turn. After my opponent played Path of the Peak he was unable to use Arceus's star power but was able to replace it with Training court after discovering his mistake resulting him getting the Boss he needed for the win.
Game 4: Darkrai vs Raikou/Boltund W (3-1)
This one was quick and painless. My opponent was using Boltund to set up her Raikou but I was able to get my Darkrai up and running despite starting out with a Crobat turn 1. I had a boss in hand if she decided to retreat her Raikou but she was able to get close to KOing one of my Darkrai but it was too late as I was already too powerful.
Total: 3-1
I ended up getting 2nd place overall and it's been awhile since I topped at DXN. I'm hoping to play at Emerald Knights for their Split a box on August 20! See you guys again soon!
And some pictures for the peeps!
